Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theater, The Fun Company, presents a new World Premiere adaptation of the children's classic, Heidi. Heidi is the iconic story of a young orphaned girl who transforms the lives of all those around her from her reclusive grandfather and Peter the goatherd in the remote Swiss Alps to the wealthy Sesemann family in Frankfurt. An enduring tale of love and friendship, Heidi's story has been a childhood rite of passage for many since it was first published in 1880. The subject of countless films and TV shows, this world premiere theatrical adaptation by MET brings the classic to life for a new generation of children.

This new adaptation of Johanna Spyri's original story is written by MET Company Member Allison Lepelletier. Lepelletier is a familiar face to MET faithful as she has served as an actor, writer and director on numerous mainstage and Fun Company shows and can currently be seen on stage in The All New Grand Ole Hee Haw Hootenanny Hoe Down Jamboree. Heidi's talented cast of actors includes Sarah DeLebonius, Geoff Huntoon, Laura Stark, Bill Stitely and Karli Cole as the title character. The production design team includes Julie Herber (costumes), Doug Grove (lighting) and JoAnn Lee (set design).

Directed by MET Company Member Vanessa Strickland, the show runs from tonight, May 19 through June 10 at 2pm every Saturday and on Sunday June 3 and 10 at Maryland Ensemble Theatre, located in the historic FSK Hotel at 31 W Patrick Street. All tickets are $12 and may be purchased online at marylandensemble.org, by phone at (301) 694-4744, or in person at the MET box office. Group rates and birthday packages are also available.

MET's family theatre, The Fun Company, seeks to provide high quality, affordable theatre for the whole family that is both educational and entertaining by presenting a yearly Family Theatre Series, an In School Productions outreach program and Fun Camp.
