The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway will open its 2017 Season with one of the most popular titles in the Walt Disney collection, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. The curtain will rise for the first time on this underwater adventure Saturday afternoon, February 4th, for a run from through April 8th. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the cast in costume!

Children's Theatre audiences will be taken on a journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home - and her fins - behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking

The animated film version of The Little Mermaid swam onto the silver screen in 1989 and was an instant hit with audiences of all ages. However, it was almost twenty years before the show was adapted into a full stage musical. The original Broadway production, produced by Disney Theatricals, opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City on January 10, 2008. The production ran until August of the following year, finally closing after 50 previews and 685 performances.

Leading the cast, in the title role is Bridey Puvel, making her Way Off Broadway debut. Joining her in the show will be PatRick Ford, Bill Kiska, Amanda Schrider, and Jordan B. Stocksdale, with Matthew Lincoln-Bugg as Sabastian, Jeremy Trammelle as Prince Eric, and Tori Weaver as Ursula.

Children's Theatre performances are every Saturday afternoon and the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Guests arrive at 11:30 a.m. for lunch with the show beginning at 12:30 p.m. and running until 1:30 p.m. All tickets are $17 per person for lunch and the show.
