By:

New play readings for Fallout and Man on the Street will take place on Saturday, February 25 at Fells Point Corner Theatre 251 South Ann Street. Find out more about the plays below!

11:00 am
Fallout
by Laura King
directed by Steve Goldklang

Two damaged strangers take shelter from an unknown menace in a relic from the Cold War. In the claustrophobic confines of a family bomb shelter, Anna and David will have to decide if what is outside is more terrifying than what they are hiding inside themselves.

Laura King is an award-winning playwright and member of the Dramatists Guild. She holds an MFA in playwriting from Hollins University and is an instructor of theatre at Gordon State College. Laura's plays are available at StageRights, YouthPLAYS, Polychoron Press, and the New Play Exchange.

1:00 pm
Man on the Street
by Marilyn Bennett
directed by John Wilson

A city street, early evening. A man in an overcoat comes to the aid of a woman being mugged. A scuffle ensues and the man slumps to the ground. A few minutes later several people walk by, including Karen and Thad. They notice the man but walk on. Who was he? What happened to him after they walked away? Should they have stopped? Karen struggles to find the answers.

Marilyn Bennett is a playwright and actor in the DC area. Her one-act play, The Prophecy, directed by Dwane Starlin, won the Thunderous Productions' One-Act Play Festival in 2015. Her 10-minute play, Rosalie, was performed at the Capitol Fringe Festival in 2016. As an actor, Marilyn has been seen in many DC area theatres, including Rep Stage, Maryland Ensemble Theatre, Next Stop Theatre, Bay Theatre Company, and the Source Theatre Festival.

Join us for free staged reading of new plays submitted by local playwrights for this summer's Baltimore Playwrights Festival. Our next readings are on Saturday, February 25, 11 am and 1 pm, at Fells Point Corner Theatre, 251 South Ann Street.
