Nancy Ko Productions to Present Staged Readings

On Saturday, July 21st at UMBC the story and music of Nanay Ko will be coming together for the first time. The writers along with the audience will be able to hear and give feedbacks before going into production in October.

Our stage reading cast includes Justine "Icy" Moral as Christine, Don Mike Mendoza of La Ti Do as Narrator, Cheryl J. Campo as Mary, Russwin Francisco as Tony, Krystle Cruz as Megan, Diego Maramba as Dennis/John, and Christina McCann as Bess/Claire.

Nanay Ko is coming of age story about a late 20's Filipino woman who left home to pursue her dream against her family's strong traditions and desires. After her father's untimely passing, she tries to regain her honor by reconnecting with her estranged mother, or in Tagalog, "Nanay." The film will both surprise and satisfy Asian American audiences who are hungry to see their culture and beliefs represented on the big screen. It also serves to captivate audiences who struggle with familial obligations, the pursuit of their own dreams, and the love of music. Nanay Ko seeks to fill the gap of Asian American representation in the film industry.

We welcome all to come and hear our story!jk;
