Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company, announces its 2011-2012 season. The Fun Company's season will take audiences of all ages on exciting adventures with classic characters as well as some new ones with MET's World Premiere original work. The Fun Company, under the Artistic Direction of Julie Herber, has been entertaining and enlightening Frederick families since 1998.

This year The Fun Company introduces misfit pirates, Greek gods, and classic characters that have endured for decades. The season opens with an original piece by company member
Caitlyn Joy entitled The Pirates of Pelican Point which follows a gang of misfit pirates who help a young boy find friendship. Next in the series is The Commedia Pinocchio by Lane Riosley in which the tale of Pinocchio is told in the comedic style known as commedia dell'arte which has used the various talents of the actors' acrobatics, dance, music and quick wit to entertain audiences since the 15th century. Beginning at the end of March audiences can follow classic characters from Greek mythology on a mission to save Mt. Olympus in the original production The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure written by company member Sarah Shulman with music by Thom Huenger. The Fun Company season concludes with Allison Lepelletier's adaptation of the classic 1880 novel Heidi by Johanna Spyri.

All tickets to Fun Company shows are $12 and performances can be seen on most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year at 2pm. Each show also offers birthday party packages in which children can bring their friends to see the show and then afterwards go to the MET's very own party room to meet the cast, eat cake, make crafts, and play theatre games.

The Fun Company seeks to provide high quality, affordable theatre for the whole family that is both educational and entertaining through their full season of family theatre, In School Productions outreach program and Fun Camp. This season is made possible in part through the kind support of this year's Fun Company season sponsors GTI Federal and PNC Bank.

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs. The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
