Maryland Ensemble Theatre's family theatre, The Fun Company, will present the World Premiere production of The Pirates of Pelican Point by Caitlyn Joy. This swashbuckling tale is filled with adventure, comedy, and friendship. Pirates runs from September 17- October 9 on the MET stage. Tickets are $12, and may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org, or in person at the MET box office.

Pirates of Pelican Point tells the story of Jonah, a lonely ten-year-old. Every year the seaside town of Pelican Point has it's annual boat race and every year Jonah is left out of the fun. Lonely and bullied by the other children, all Jonah wants is a friend. When a misfit pirate named Annie comes to town, he may get his wish.

Pirates was written by MET Ensemble member Caitlyn Joy, who has been acted in many Fun Company shows including Hansel and Gretel, The Littlest Vampire, and Ready, Set, Me! Pirates will be directed by Julie Herber, The Fun Company's Artistic Director who has been working with young audiences for over 20 years providing entertainment, education, and support. Herber directs a spectacular cast with MET Ensemble members Ken Poisson and featuring Karli Cole, Tim Eichelberger, Thomas Scholtes and Lia Seltzer.

The creative team includes JoAnn Lee (set design), Julie Herber (costume design), Doug Grove (lighting design) and Sarah Shulman (stage manager).

The Fun Company seeks to provide high quality, affordable theatre for the whole family that is both educational and entertaining by presenting a yearly Family Theatre Series, an In School Productions outreach program and Fun Camp.

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs. The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
