Lauren Gunderson's THE REVOLUTIONISTS Comes to Baltimore's Everyman Theatre

Ready, aim, spitfire! Everyman Theatre prepares for audiences (and heads) to be rolling in the aisles with the astutely timed arrival of The Revolutionists (December 6, 2017 through January 7, 2018) from playwright Lauren Gunderson-aka "the most-produced playwright in the country" (The New Yorker).

Welcome to the French Revolution-the period of comically apropos social and political instability in which The Revolutionists unfolds. When you put former queen Marie Antoinette, assassin Charlotte Corday, playwright Olympe de Gouges, and Caribbean spy Marianne Angelle in a room together, literally ANYTHING can happen-especially big laughs. France's fight for equality and freedom propels itself to modern times with this bold, brave and blisteringly funny new work about feminism, legacy and standing up for one's beliefs with an all-female cast featuring Everyman Theatre Resident Company members Beth Hylton*, Megan Anderson* and Dawn Ursula*, and Noises Off's Emily Kester.

A dazzling mash-up of period feels, modern flourishes, runway-caliber fashions and irresistible wit, The Revolutionists is a spirited, race-against-the-guillotine thrill-ride as much as a topical celebration of the bond between women and the capacity of art and expression to create change.

"The actors are performing an extraordinary tightrope walk between comedy and tragedy-our feat is disarming the audience with laughter in order to make an important point."

The Revolutionists design team includes Casey Stangl (Director), Daniel Ettinger (Set Design), David Burdick (Costume Design), Elizabeth Harper (Lighting Design), C Andrew Mayer (Sound Design), Lewis Shaw (Fight Choreography), Anne Nesmith (Wig Design), Steve Satta (Dialects) and Robyn Quick (Dramaturgy).
