Glass Mind Theatre Presents W------An Adaptation 12/10-19

By:

Glass Mind Theatre will present an original adaptation of Georg Büchner's unfinished 1837 tale of self-destruction, Woyzeck, with "W------An Adaptation," by Towson student Bob Harris. The play focuses on a soldier who partakes in government-run experimental injections and their psychological effects.

German playwright Georg Büchner's 1837 Woyzeck tells the tale of a poor soldier who takes part in medical experiments in which he must only eat peas, and whose psychosis and jealousy move him to murder the people he loves.

In Harris's fresh take on this classic tale, "W------" begins to crack under the pressures of his world, in which he must perform televised summary executions, and must search inwards to define where his fantasies end and his reality begins. Between moments with his increasingly distant wife, his best friend Georg, a General and a Doctor he can't seem to keep track of, he also realizes he's forgetting one important bit of information - his name. Andrew Peters, Artistic Director of Glass Mind Theatre, will direct.

"It's exciting to be working with a young playwright and really helping him devise his vision, and there's something very visual about this piece that we've tapped into," says Peters. "People are not what they seem, and this piece is about the struggle to break through and figure out exactly where the truth lies."

"W------" will be performed at Load of Fun Theatre (LOF/T), at 120 W. North Avenue, Baltimore, MD December 10-19, Friday and Saturday showings will be at 8pm and Sunday performances are at 7pm. Tickets are $10. On December 11, in coalition with Project PLASE (www.projectplase.org) , tickets will be reduced to $5 for those who bring 3 or more canned goods.
