Cockpit in Court's THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE Begins Today
Cockpit in Court continues its 2015 season with an old-fashioned musical...Thoroughly Modern Millie. The roaring twenties set the tone for a time when women wanted to become "moderns", in a funny love story full of clever music and spectacular dancing. The show runs from today, July 17th to August 2nd. Individual tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for senior adults and $14 for children 12 and under.
Thoroughly Modern Millie (Book by: Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, New Music/Lyrics by: Jeanine Tesori / Dick Scanlan) won six TONY Awards including Best Musical, and was the 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway! It is based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film which featured Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore.
Thoroughly Modern Millie takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when "moderns"-including a flapper named Millie Dillmount-were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce, and rewriting the rules of love. This high-spirited musical romp is a delightful valentine to the long-standing spirit of New York City and the people who seek to discover themselves there.Directed by Jimi Kinstle, Choreographed by Julie Foley, and Musical Direction by Patty Delisle.
