AIR HEART Set for Theatre Project, 4/24-5/4
The the life, mystery and final flight of Amelia Earhart is explored in Mara Neimanis' aerial theatre piece, Air Heart, April 24 - May 4. Performances will be in Theatre Project's intimate black box theatre located at 45 West Preston Street, in Baltimore.
Air Heart is a sixty minute solo aerial performance that recreates Amelia Earhart's final flight on a 13 foot high spinning metal plane sculpture. Aerial actor, Mara Neimanis combines theatrical storytelling with bristling fact, poetic fiction, humor, and formidable aerial athleticism, channeling Earhart's story of flight, risk, and the legend of the feminist icon in a powerful solo performance that is dazzlingly expressive and innovative.
In-Flight Theater's brand of aerial theater, performed sometimes inches above the floor or high up on suspended steel sculptures, creates a physical context to share a touching glimpse into the life and personality of Amelia Earhart, suitable for family audiences.
Written and performed by Mara Neimanis, Air Heart is a daring and original theatrical experiment that takes on the myth, dream, and actualization of flight and feminism.
