According to Deadline, the sequel to this year's hit horror flick THE PURGE, with returning writer/director James DeMonaco, has received a June 20, 2014 release from Universal.

Steve Wilkos celebrates his 1000th episode Friday, November 22nd, 2013, by taking a look back at some of the unforgettable and newsworthy moments of his talk show. In this one-hour retrospect, Steve will look back at the shows happy endings, funny instances, craziest moments, intense reactions, biggest liars, ultimate confessions and lastly, the greatest chair throws, which has become Wilkos' trademark move when frustrated at a situation on stage.

The project will chronicle Rhimes' life prior to creating ABC's mega-hit medical series, following her decision 'to build a family and the challenges of being a single mother while striving for professional success.'

According to Deadline, Esposito, currently starring in NBC's hit series REVOLUTION, will direct and star in the big-screen adaptation of Evan Carton's book - and has enlisted Oscar-nominated Harris to join the cast as the legendary abolitionist John Brown. Esposito will take on the role of 'freed slave-turned-abolitionist' Frederick Douglass.

Superstars Blake Shelton, Reba and Trisha Yearwood will appear as guest stars in the upcoming holiday special "Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale." Others set to make an appearance include Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, Heidi Klum, Ken Jeong ("Community") and Jai Rodriguez ("Queer Eye for the Straight Guy").

According to Deadline, the network has decided not to bring the show back for a fourth season, whose ratings have consistently dropped off since it debuted in 2011. The series premiere drew 4.5 million viewers, Variety reports, but by last season's end, ROUGHNESS was drawing in, on average, only 2.5 million.

Compared to the same night a year ago, 48 HOURS was up +13% in viewers and up +5% in households.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted year-to-year gains in viewers (+6%, 7.12m from 6.74m) and households (+2%, 4.7/09 from 4.6/08) for the week ending Nov. 15, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

THE CHALLENGER DISASTER, Science Channel's critically-acclaimed original scripted feature starring William Hurt, attracted more than 1.9 million total viewers P2+ to a simulcast audience on Science Channel and Discovery Channel on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 9 PM ET. For Science Channel it was the most watched program of 2013.

Countdown to Christmas is maintaining its lead this holiday season, with its two most recent original movie premieres and propelling Hallmark Channel to be the number one network on cable in primetime among W25-54 rating for the entire week of November 11 - November 17. 'The Christmas Ornament' and 'Catch a Christmas Star' claimed the # 1 and #2 movies of the week, garnering a 3.8 and 3.3 household rating, respectively. In addition, 'The Christmas Ornament', which premiered on Saturday, November 16 and attracted nearly 6.1 million unduplicated viewers, was the #1 cable program for Saturday among households and W25-54 rating and drove Hallmark Channel to rank #1 on all of cable and broadcast in its 8-10pm time period for HH, W18-49, and W25-54 delivery. The holiday film was also #1 in key demo ratings for HH (3.8 rtg), W18-49 (1.6 rtg), W25-54 (1.8 rtg), and P2+ (2.0 rtg). 'The Christmas Ornament' is the second most watched telecast in the network's history among household delivery and the 3rd most watched among total viewers. The Saturday premiere elevated Hallmark Channel to be the #1 network of the day as well as the #1 cable network in primetime for the day among HH and W25-54.

Disney confirmed today that D2 will officially be the first returning character in J.J. Abrams' return to the franchise, due in theaters Dec. 18, 2015. Rumors first arose when Abrams debuted a behind-the-scenes shot of the film (to the left), featuring the beloved staple of the series.

Daytime Emmy Award winner David Tom will re-join the #1 daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Billy Abbott, the role he created in 1999, and for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2000 for “Outstanding Younger Actor.” Tom's episodes will begin airing in February.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has enlisted Ray to write and executive produce, and potentially direct the pilot if its given an order. Chris Keyser has been named showrunner, and will also executive produce.

FX has placed a 13-episode order for the drama series The Strain from Academy Award(R) nominated Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, author Chuck Hogan and writer/producer Carlton Cuse, which is based on the best-selling vampire novel trilogy of the same title written by del Toro and Hogan, it was announced today by Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, the Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.
