Student Blogger: Katie Koslow

Katie Koslow is a performer, choreographer, publicity manager, and aspiring broadcast journalist originally from Connecticut (about 40 minutes outside of NYC). She is currently a sophomore at Villanova University studying Communication with a focus on Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Theatre. Beyond performing in productions, Katie also serves as the Publicity Director for multiple organizations on campus, volunteers on the Committee for an organization supporting childhood cancer research, and is the President of an a cappella group. After serving as one of the Student Reporters for the Jimmy Awards in 2023, Katie was inspired to continue to share the stories of the incredible individuals that make up the performing arts community, and to raise awareness about the importance of theater within society.

Singing and I still have a complicated relationship– I don’t think that will ever fully go away– but my experience with voice lessons serves as a constant reminder to never listen to people who try to dissuade you from doing what you love. I have built a life for myself at college where my extracurricular obligations include doing things I love, whether it be choreographing a line dance or making a promotional video for a musical. My busy schedule revolves around creating pieces and moments that will bring joy to others; how lucky am I?
