Nashville Symphony and Regions Bank host regions Free Day of Music at Schermerhorn Symphony Center

The following are the October-December events at the King Center.

The Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville announces a workshop for high school students who are interested in auditioning for a performing arts scholarship. The workshop will be held Friday November 13th from 4:30p.m. - 6:30p.m. and Saturday November 14th from 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. at the Whole Backstage Theatre, 1120 Rayburn Ave in Guntersville.

The NORD/NOBA Center for Dance, a cultural community partnership between the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) and the New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) offering free dance programming to local youth, has been selected to perform at three upcoming Louisiana arts festivals. The company will appear at the fourth annual Louisiana Dance Festival in Baton Rouge on Saturday, October 3, at the 34th annual Red River Revel Fest in Shreveport on Saturday, October 10, and at the New Orleans Fringe Festival on November 13, 14, and 15..

It's 'back to school' with CityRep! The Marriott Theatre continues its highly acclaimed 2009 season with Hairspray, the show the New York Post calls "A great big fat gorgeous hit!" This all-new production of the Tony Award-winning international phenomenon explodes onto the Marriott Theatre stage September 23rd. Direct from Broadway, where it played for over 2,500 performances, the production begins previews September 23rd, opens Wednesday, September 30th at 8 p.m., and runs through December 6th, 2009. Chicagoland favorite and multiple Jeff Award winner Marc Robin (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Full Monty), has been tapped to direct and choreograph.

The following is UFPA's calendar of events for October - December 2009.

The F.U.D.G.E. Theatre Company at the Arsenal Center for the Arts Black Box, Watertown, MA is set to present Nevermore. The show features music by Matt Conner and book by Grace Barnes. The lyrics are adapted from the writings of Edgar Allen Poe. Joe DeMita directs the show with muscial direction by Jason Whiting.

The Directors Studios has opened its doors (and floors) as the newest Twin Cities rehearsal home for the arts and entertainment industry!

Casa Mañana is excited to announce a new student discount program that offers students, as well as faculty and staff, preview nights and rush tickets for all Broadway shows at Casa Mañana Theatre for the 2009 - 2010 Best of Broadway season. The Muckenthaler Cultural Center, will host a special VIP event on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7:00 p.m., featuring an exclusive appearance by Gregory Maguire, author of the bestselling novel Wicked, and a special performance by Megan Hilty, reprising her role as Glinda, with Broadway guests singing your favorite songs from the Tony Award-winning musical inspired by the book. This will be Gregory Maguire's only appearance in California this year.

On Sunday, October 18, at 1 and 3 pm, that path leads directly to Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, as Enchantment Theatre Company brings Harold's creative journey to life as part of the Jorgensen Children's Series, supported by Bank of America.

The Garden Theatre announces that the first Community Meeting in preparation for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be held on Saturday, October 17 from 10am-12noon at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street). The meeting will cover general show information on auditions and crew opportunities. All ages and experience levels are invited and encouraged to attend. Community members who are interested in being a crew team leader, should bring a technical resume. More meetings will be scheduled leading up to the production.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) kicks off its 2009/10 Subscription Series with Artistic Director Barbara Gaines' staging of Richard III, one of Shakespeare's most enduring successes. Richard, the brilliant hunchback and witty manipulator, seduces and murders his way to the English throne in the Bard's epic history of this most fascinating and engaging villain.

Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, Florida is set to host the American Chamber Players on Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. (Fred Rogers Family Series) and Sunday, October 4 at 3:00 p.m. (Visiting Artists Series).

Circle Theatre, a professional, regional theatre company in Sundance Square, opened Picasso at the Lapin Agile, by Steve Martin, on September 26, at 8:00pm.
