From September 24 to 26, 2009, the Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace & Justice is presenting a three-day event to highlight the ability of the arts to transform individuals and reconcile communities who have suffered conflict and violence. Titled Bearing Exquisite Witness, the festival will showcase playwrights, filmmakers, poets, musicians, visual artists and academics from the fields of theater arts and conflict resolution who are using the creative power of art to raise awareness, prevent violence, help communities recover, change policies of exclusion and heal trauma.

Jessica Chang of Channel 4 San Diego devoted a full episode of her weekly TV Show, Shades of San Diego, to Mo`olelo! She revisits Mo`olelo's past productions of Since Africa (2006), Permanent Collection (2007) and Good Boys (2009), and takes a sneak peek at Mo`olelo's next production, Heather Raffo's 9 Parts of Desire. The episode features performances by Walter Murray and Dre Slaman.

This September, REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater) transforms its flexible performance space into an immersive visual and sonic environment for the world premiere of AH!, a co-production of The Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts and the CalArts Center for New Performance. AH! opens Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at REDCAT and runs for a limited engagement through Friday, September 18, 2009.

Registration is now open for the Fall Session of Adult Acting Classes, beginning September 13th, 2009 at Actor's Theatre of Charlotte. Taught by professional actor/director Martin Thompson, these classes are appropriate for both aspiring actors and professionals who would like to improve their skills. Write and perform your own material with other funny women at Sketchfest Seattle's Women Only Sketch Comedy Intensive, a six-day series of two and a half-hour workshops held during SketchFest Seattle (Sept. 21-26), which will culminate in a performance on the final Saturday of the fest (Sept. 26). All women are welcome, regardless of experience level in theater or comedy.

Rover Dramawerks opens the musical My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra, conceived by David Grapes and Todd Olson on Thursday, September 10. Performances will be at the Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Avenue in Plano (next to the Courtyard Theater), continuing through October 3, 2009, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and an additional matinee performance on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m.

Cape Rep Theatre announces the final addition to the 2009 Indoor Theatre Season. A Class Act, the Broadway musical features music and lyrics by Edward Kleban and book by Linda Kline and Lonny Price. A Class Act will open September 17 and run for 5 weeks through October 18. Performances will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm with Sunday matinees at 2pm. New Line Theatre, 'the Bad Boy of Musical Theatre,' closed its 18th season of alternative musical theatre this month and is proud to report the most financially and critically successful season in its entire history, with more than 6,000 people seeing New Line's performances.
