Hip-hop dance phenomenon The Groovaloos, best known for their breakout winning performance on NBC?s ?Superstars of Dance? and appearances on FOX?s ?So You Think You Can Dance,? will open The Joyce Theater season in the groundbreaking original production Groovaloo. Originally produced by Steppenwolf Theatre Co. in Chicago and later in London where it received a 2007 Olivier nomination for Best New Comedy.

Coal Creek Community Theater of Louisville, CO presents Voice of the Prairie, written by John Olive and directed by Linda Orr. The play, spanning three decades, from 1895, through the early days of radio in 1923, centers on the adventures of Davey Quinn and Frankie, the Blind Girl, as re-told some 30 years later by the now middle-aged David Quinn. Quinn becomes famous sending his stories into the 'Ethernet' through the infant industry of radio as 'The Voice of the Prairie.' Frankie hears Davey?s stories and reenters his life as the FCC threatens them all for broadcasting without a license.

Titirangi Theatre's upcoming season begins with Stephen Sinclair's The Bellbird. The Janelle Bish-directed show runs from 19-26 September. Bellbird is put on in association with Going West Books and Writers Festival.

A reading of Olga Humphrey's Nasty Bits: In Which the Idealistic as Young Thomas Darsdale Came to America to Start His Life in Politics is set to take place on Monday, September 14th at 7:00pm. There will be a post-performance wine reception and talkback for the Wendy McClellan-directed show.

Celebrity Events Group and Olympia Entertainment announce a live, fantasy-filled event for soap opera fans that has never been done before! The stage will be set at Detroit?s historic Masonic Temple Theatre for two days of total soap star immersion when 14 of daytime television?s top actors from ABC?s All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital, CBS?s The Young & the Restless and NBC?s Days of Our Lives come to town, along with special guest star, Michigan?s own Matt Giraud from American Idol, to entertain and get up close and personal with their fans.

Intiman Theatre and Town Hall Seattle?s Center for Civic Life will co-present a dramatic reading of selections from the Lincoln-Douglas Debates on Tuesday, September 22 from 7:30-9 pm as part of Intiman?s American Cycle series and its production of Robert E. Sherwood?s play Abe Lincoln in Illinois. Actors Erik Lochtefeld and R. Hamilton Wright will take a night off from rehearsal to read the words of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas, the characters they will play in Intiman?s forthcoming production.

The Theatre School at DePaul University's Showcase Series of Contemporary Plays and Classics presents 1001 by Jason Grote, directed by Carlos Murillo. This timely and compelling tale opens Friday, October 2 and runs through Sunday, October 11, 2009, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on September 30 and October 1 at 7:30 PM.

Wayside?s Acting Intern Company presents an intimate night of music and cocktails with their second Cabaret ?Some Enchanted Evening? of the 2009-2010 Season. For two nights only, Thursday, September 24th and Friday, September 25th, the Curtain Call Café of the theatre will be converted to a piano bar. The cabaret will feature Jayson Belew, Aviva Pressman, Dave Sucharski, Cody Murphy and plus appearances by other Wayside Theatre favorites.

The Suite Life of Zach and Cody's Kim Rhodes will Host this one night only event as a number of celebrated Broadway veterans including Mary Jo Catlett, Carole Cook, Jason Graae, Ilene Graff, Sam Harris, as well as students from Creative Planet School of the Arts (www.cpsoa.org) will be joining Carol Channing as they gather together for a one night only event at UCLA's Royce Hall for the purpose of raising money and awareness with regard to the need for arts in the public school system. Exposure to the arts in school, builds self-confidence, self-discipline and teamwork. And, ultimately these things create better, safer schools for our children. 'You and I don't need to save the arts. We need to help the arts save our children,' says Carol.
