NEXT FALL, the new American play by Geoffrey Nauffts and directed by Sheryl Kaller, will open on Broadway on Thursday, March 11, 2010 with preview performances beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Yesterday, January 14, MEMPHIS celebrated its 100th performance on Broadway. In honor of the event, all involved with the production, along with BroadwayWorld, celebrated at Justin Timberlake's restaurant, ‘Southern Hospitality' following the curtain.

Alfred Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS, Broadway's longest running comedy, concluded its Tony Award-winning two year run on January 10, 2010, when it played its final performance at the Helen Hayes Theatre. The production played 771 performances - the longest running Broadway play in seven years.

On Thursday, January 7 The Broadway League hosted Mark Aldrich of The Happy Hour Guys and members of the casts of RAGTIME and MEMPHIS on Broadway at Virgil's for warm post-show drinks to beat the cold at Virgils in Times Square. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the social Broadway gathering. A good time was had by all.

On Wednesday, January 6, the current cast of ALTAR BOYZ, in addition to cast alum, presented a $203,916 check to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids that the show raised for the organization at New World Stages.

The cast and crew of SHREK THE MUSICAL, the Tony Award-winning production, celebrated the show's one year anniversary on Broadway with a reception on stage at the Broadway Theatre on Sunday, November 8th after the matinee performance. Cupcakes were provided to the cast by CRUMBS Bake Shop. The production also said goodbye to original 'SHREK' star Brian d'Arcy James who played his final performance in the title role yesterday as well.

On December 14, Joe's Pub showcased the second annual concert presentation of New York City Christmas, featuring special guests Sherie Rene Scott and Raul Esparza. Tony Award winner Harriet Harris hosted the event, which was presented by ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty) and Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records. Stafford Arima (London's Ragtime, Altar Boyz) directed the concert.

The 21st Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION announced an all time record total of $4,630,695 had been raised by the 60 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year's total breaks the previous record when $3,927,000 was raised for the 2007 GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.

Original Bye Bye Birdie cast member Gary Giocomo, who played 'Harvey Johnson' in the 1960 production, came to see Bye Bye Birdie and visit current cast member Paul Pilcz who plays 'Harvey Johnson' in the Roundabout Theatre Company production. BroadwayWorld.com was there for the fun meet and greet!

The Tony Award® nominated hit musical Irving Berlin'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, the stage reinvention of the beloved classic film, directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Randy Skinner, with music supervision by Rob Berman, returned to Broadway with a festive and fun opening on Sunday, November 22, 2009!

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of the celebrated new musical MEMPHIS will be available for purchase exclusively at the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street) and online at www.memphisthemusical.com beginning Friday, December 11th. This special edition will feature a bonus track of "Memphis Lives in Me" performed by composer and Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan. The cast of MEMPHIS recorded the album at Avatar Studios on Monday, November 16, 2009. The recording is produced by Delray Records and nationwide distribution details will be available shortly.

Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brother/Sister Plays have officially launched at the Public Theater. The series Part 2, The Brothers Size and Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet, directed by Robert O'Hara, began previews on October 21. Part 1, In the red and Brown Water, hits the stage. Tina Landau directs. McCraney, one of America's most acclaimed young writers, returns to The Public to complete his trilogy following the success of The Brothers Size in 2007. Performances will run through December 13.

On Saturday, November 14, 2009, the internationally acclaimed revival of John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's Tony Award-winning, smash-hit musical CHICAGO celebrated its 13th anniversary on The Great White Way. There was a festive party at the Imperial Theatre after the show on Friday, November 13th with director Stephen Daldry and the Tony Award winning cast of Billy Elliot as they celebrated their one year anniversary. There was of course party hats, confetti, and very happy kids to commemorate Billy's 1st Birthday!
