As BroadwayWorld reported earlier today, Broadway veteran Sean Hayes has signed on to star in a multi-episode arc on NBC's SMASH this season. As the focus of the show will switch from Marilyn musical, 'Bombshell,' to a new production, Hayes will play 'Terrence Falls, a comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical "Liaisons," based on the novel "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." Due to a series of comic circumstances, he becomes a major thorn in the side for Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and other characters.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth is currently recovering after being recently hospitalized from an accident on the set of 'The Good Wife.' According to People.com, the actress will not return to the drama after her recovery.

American Idol winner Taylor Hicks attended JERSEY BOYS at Paris Las Vegas yesterday, August 12. Currently headlining at Bally's Las Vegas, Hicks was excited to show support for his fellow Las Vegas entertainers, the JERSEY BOYS. Following the show, Hicks headed backstage to congratulate the cast on a great show and stayed for a cast photo.

Producers of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical ONCE announced today that the production has recouped its capitalization after only 21 weeks (169 performances), faster than any new Broadway musical in more than a decade.

Disney's landmark musical event, THE LION KING, will play its 6138th performance this Wednesday, August 15th at 2:00pm, becoming the fifth longest-running show in Broadway history. THE LION KING will surpass the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line (with 6137 performances).

According to an Equity casting notice, Rob Ashord is set to helm the upcoming Broadway revival of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof in the Spring 2013. Today in 1986, Me and My Girl opened at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 1420 performances. Me and My Girl is a musical with book and lyrics by Douglas Furber and L. Arthur Rose and music by Noel Gay. It takes place in the late 1930s in Hampshire, Mayfair, and Lambeth. The musical had a successful original run on the West End in 1937 and very successful revivals in both London and New York in the 1980s.
