Broadway In Chicago has just announced two Chicago premieres in their 2013 Spring season: Tony Award-winning PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT will play the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (50 East Congress Parkway) for two weeks only, March 19 - 31, 2013. CATCH ME IF YOU CAN will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 West Randolph Street) for a two-week engagement April 2 - 14, 2013.

Adam Shankman's ROCK OF AGES, which opened last weekend, brought in an additional $8 million in its second weekend, according to Boxofficemojo. As Broadwayworld previously reported, the musical earned $14.4 million in its opening weekend, and a total of $28,763,000. The movie took fifth place (behind Brave, Madagascar 3, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Prometheus), having the sixth-highest opening ever for a musical.

The Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Initiative unveiled its Hall of Fame on June 16, honoring the musical contributions of Barry Manilow, Cole Porter and the songwriting duo of Alan and Marilyn Bergman. Nick Ziobro, a 15-year old singer from Manlius, NY, is the 2012 winner of the Great American Songbook Vocal Academy and Competition, held in Carmel, Indiana. Judges included Michael Feinstein, Jim Caruso, Sylvia McNair, Sandi Patty and La Tanya Hall.

Today in 1972, the first Broadway revival of Man of La Mancha opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, where it ran for 140 performances. Man of La Mancha is a musical with a book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh. It is adapted from Wasserman's non-musical 1959 teleplay I, Don Quixote, which was in turn inspired by Miguel de Cervantes's seventeenth century masterpiece Don Quixote. It tells the story of the 'mad' knight, Don Quixote, as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition.The original 1965 Broadway production ran for 2,328 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical has been revived four times on Broadway, becoming one of the most enduring works of musical theatre.

The Public Theater's AS YOU LIKE IT, the first show of The Public's 50th Anniversary season at the Delacorte, officially opened last night, June 21 and continues through Saturday, June 30.

Last February, ITV1 and Andrew Lloyd Webber announced a new reality competition show- SUPERSTAR, described as 'a brand new show that will give the British public the chance to choose the country's next major rock star.' This summer, original 'Effie,' Jennifer Holliday will return to DREAMGIRLS, playing the role at the Muny in St. Louis. Making its West Coast premiere, Blood and Gifts tells the story of the secret spy war behind the official Soviet-Afghan War of the 1980s. Spanning a decade and playing out in Washington DC, Pakistan and Afghanistan, the play offers up a slice of historical fiction laced with dark humor, as it follows the character of CIA operative Jim Warnock and his struggles to stop the Soviet Army's destruction of Afghanistan. After a three-year absence, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway returns to the 47th Street Theatre with a brand new edition, Forbidden Broadway: ALIVE AND KICKING. The show, which opens Thursday, September 6, will run for a limited engagement through January 6, 2013. Previews begin on July 24th. BroadwayWorld has learned that Jenny Lee Stern, Natalie Charle Ellis, Scott Richard Foster and Marcus Stevens will all star in the show.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), under the Artistic Direction of Diane Paulus, has just announced that multiple Tony and Emmy award winner Cherry Jones returns to the A.R.T. next season to play Amanda Wingfield in Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, to be directed by John Tiffany, Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning director of Once on Broadway.

According to TVLine, AMERICAN IDOL runner-up Jessica Sanchez is in talks to join the fourth season of GLEE for a multi-edisode arc. Few details about her appearance have been released, but the singer would likely join the cast mid-season.

Singer Drew Lachey attended JERSEY BOYS at Paris Las Vegas yesterday, June 20. Lachey is best known for being in the hit-band 98 Degrees and winning the second season of Dancing with the Stars on ABC in 2006. Lachey is currently hosting The Price is Right Live at Bally's Las Vegas and was excited about the opportunity to see JERSEY BOYS while in town. After the show, Lachey went backstage to thank the cast for a great show and take a photo.
