Edge of Empires: Pagans, Jews, and Christians at Roman Dura-Europos, on view at ISAW from September 23, 2011, through January 8, 2012, tells the story of life in the city, located in present-day Syria, from the mid-second to mid-third century CE, when it thrived as a Roman military garrison.

Loyola University Chicago English professor Terence Boyle will present his play Oh, What a Bloody Good Friday: A Playful Mystery* as the first outdoor summer theatre production held at Cuneo Mansion and Gardens. Actor/Journalist Dan Hoyle journeys into the Heartland to meet The Real Americans this fall at Portland Center Stage. The one-man show is based on a months-long road trip into the not-the-coasts parts of the US and meets the real people living outside the 'latte liberal bubble' and explores what rural America is really thinking. The Real Americans previews on Tuesday September 6th, opens on Friday, September 9th, and runs Tuesday through Sunday through November 6. A student-produced show at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre aims to lead theatergoers on a journey through the 1960s and civil rights movement.

Manhattan Theatre Club's hit production of Terrence McNally's Tony Award-winning MASTER CLASS, directed by Stephen Wadsworth must end its extended engagement at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street) on Sunday September 4 after playing 26 preview performances and 70 regular performances. The play began previews on Tuesday, June 14 and opened Thursday, July 7 to rave reviews for the production and Tyne Daly's performance as the legendary Maria Callas. The production was extended twice due to popular demand.

USA Network dominated the television landscape all summer, and this fall, the network will continue to deliver high-quality programming. In September, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, USA will present two world television premieres, the USA original movie THE SPACE BETWEEN followed by the Academy Award(R)-winning short subject documentary TWIN TOWERS. October will feature the USA launch of season six of the hit original series PSYCH, and in November, two of summer's biggest hits, BURN NOTICE and COVERT AFFAIRS, will continue their fifth and second seasons respectively on Tuesday, November 1 and Thursday, November 3 with all-new episodes.

Bootleg Theater proudly presents playwright Bill Cain's award winning 9 Circles starring noted actor Patrick J. Adams in the tour-de-force role of Army Private Daniel Reeves, a nineteen-year old soldier who returns home from active duty in Iraq only to find himself engaged in a fight for his very life. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the Art Song Preservation Society (ASPS) will perform a free concert in conjunction with the September Concert Foundation. Featuring the works of Barber, Ives, Copland and Berlin among others, the concert is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 10th in the Ballroom at the Leiderkranz Foundation (6 East 87th St between 5th Ave. and Madison Ave).
