Jessica Lewis Jessica has worked in theater for nearly ten years. She has worked in theatrical production for the producers of STOMP, DAMN YANKEES, NUNSENSE, DINNER WITH FRIENDS and more, and for over 5 years has been involved in the Whoopi Goldberg-produced White Noise, having discovered the production at the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival. She has since helped foster its growth through multiple large-scale workshops and two major commercial productions as an Associate Producer. After dedicating many years to theatrical and live entertainment production work that has taken her all over the world in 2009 she assumed the post of Senior Managing Editor at BroadwayWorld.com, the largest theater site on the net, for which she controls operations, routinely interviews Broadway's A-list talent and films/edits a bulk of the sites popular BWW TV content. She is a graduate of Brown University and has worked professionally in production for the Brown University Department of Theatre, Speech and Dance, Rights and Reasons Theatre, the New York Theatre Workshop and more.

Ghostlight Records has confirmed a September 21st release date for their Original Cast Recording of The Public Theater's Production of BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON. The show will soon move to Broadway (The CD will be released to coincide with previews, which begin September 20 at The Bernard B Jacobs Theatre.)

The Scottsboro Boys began preview performances this past weekend at the Guthrie Theater, kicking off an eight-week engagement through September 25. The critically-acclaimed production, directed by five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman and featuring a book by David Thompson and a score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb, comes to the Guthrie following a sold-out Off-Broadway run at the Vineyard Theatre earlier this year. Immediately following its Guthrie run, the production will move to Broadway's Lyceum Theatre, where it will begin performances on October 7 in advance of its official October 31, 2010, opening.

Continuing his 'war' on Broadway, funny-man Will Ferrell called out another of Broadway's hottest names of the moment (recall his spoof of Bernadette Peters this week) - La Cage star Kelsey Grammer. While promoting his new film, The Other Guys, on Jimmy Fallon last night, Ferrell not-so- subltly blamed Grammer for getting a much hyped Saturday Night Live skit with Shaquille O'Neal cut once upon a time due to 'jealousy.' The benefit was held at Grace Winery's outdoor amphitheatre nestled on the grounds of Sweetwater Farm Bed and Breakfast in the historic Brandywine Valley. Douglas Hodge, who won a 2010 Tony Award for his critically acclaimed performance as Albin in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, will extend his run for an additional six months in the smash hit Tony Award-winning revival at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). Hodge and five-time Emmy Award-winner Kelsey Grammer will keep their love alive as Albin and Georges in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES until February 13, 2011, when both actors will depart the production.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that Laura Benanti will join de'Adre Aziza, Danny Burstein, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil and Sherie Rene Scott in the cast of its upcoming production of the new musical WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with a book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher. This world premiere production will begin previews on Saturday, October 2 at 8pm and open on Thursday, November 4 at 6:45pm on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre (111 W. 44 Street).

Entertainment Weekly has revealed that comedic legend Carol Burnett will be appearing on GLEE next season as Sue Sylvester's mom. As referenced by Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) on an episode in season 1, 'Mama Sylvester' is former Nazi-hunter. Burnett's episode will air in October or November, according to the report.

On August 3rd, 'The Expandables' had its World Sneak Screening at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Several of its cast members came to the screening including Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, and Charisma Carpenter along with Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone, who both brought their families.

Vineyard Theatre will present a developmental lab production of AND NOW THIS IS HAPPENING - a new theatre piece conceived and written by Hunter Bell and Susan Blackwell, with original music by Jeff Bowen, Susan Blackwell & Larry Pressgrove, created by Hunter Bell, Michael Berresse, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Bickenstaff, Jeff Bowen and Larry Pressgrove. The piece will be directed by Michael Berresse, with musical direction and arrangements by Larry Pressgrove in spring 2011 at the non-profit Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) in Manhattan.

The New York Comedy Festival (NYCF), in association with COMEDY CENTRAL, announced today that comedians Aziz Ansari, Adam Carolla, Margaret Cho, Louis CK, Kevin Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Luis Jimenez, Maz Jobrani, Joel McHale, Rosie O'Donnell, Brian Regan, and Nick Swardson will perform at this year's festival. They will be joined by more than 150 other comedians performing at more than 10 venues throughout the course of the five-day festival, which runs November 3rd - 7th.

Village Originals has announced the official selections for the 10th Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place August 12-15, 2010 at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre in Issaquah. This is an invitation only event, not open to the public. The Annual Festival of New Musicals has become a jumping off point for a number of Village Theatre's most popular new works. Leading writers and producers from across the world come together for this invite-only event to be part of the process of developing new musicals. Since 2001, the Village Originals Festival has developed over 50 new musicals and worked with over 100 authors.
