Dancap Productions Inc. has announced the Canadian Premiere of THE TOXIC AVENGER, an eco-monster musical comedy based on the 1984 Lloyd Kaufman classic cult film. The Canadian production will take place at The Music Hall (998 seats) on Danforth Avenue, currently undergoing renovations to accommodate the show. Mamma Mia star and Tony Award nominee Louise Pitre will star in the production.

Olivier award-winning playwright Simon Stephens' powerful new play Punk Rock opens at the Lyric Hammersmith on 08 September 2009 with previews from 03 September 2009. The critically acclaimed PULSE ENSEMBLE THEATRE, now celebrating its 20th season, will begin its 5th season of HARLEM SUMMER SHAKESPEARE on Thursday, August 6th with free performances of Shakespeare's 'A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM' at the Countee Cullen Library. The Old Globe's production of Charles Ludlam's gothic spoof, The Mystery of Irma Vep stars Jeffrey M. Bender and John Cariani are a 'cast of thousands,' taking on the roles of Lady Enid, Lord Edgar, Nicodemus Underwood - and a mummy - among many others. Directed by Henry Wishcamper. The Mystery of Irma Vep will run in the Globe's Arena Stage at the San Diego Museum of Art's James S. Copley Auditorium through Sept. 6, 2009. Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Producing Director Richard M. Parison, Jr., will present Tennessee Williams' masterwork, A Streetcar Named Desire, as part of the theater's 15th Anniversary Season.

The production played 3 nights - July 31, August 1 and August 2 to cheering crowds, but the crazy part is - the final dress is done at 10am, in broad daylight and is open to the public, as the venue is a county-owned facility. People showed up in droves, for the run-through and cheered on the actors, the Hollywood Bowl orchestra and conductor Kevin Stites, who you will see is wearing a black, casual shirt for the rehearsal. The show's director, Richard Jay-Alexander, made a brief speech before the run, welcoming everybody, and in this exclusive footage, I was also able to catch him, in his dressing room, before the Opening Night performance.

Directed by Laura Pietropinto with Music Direction by Julie McBride, Cutting-Edge Composers took place at the West Bank Cafe's Laurie Beechman Theater (407 W. 42nd street).

Seattle Opera's signature production of Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen returns to McCaw Hall in August. The four operas that comprise the Ring-Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, and Götterdämmerung-will be presented in three full cycles: August 9 to 14, August 17 to 22, and August 25 to 30.
