The producers of the Tony Award® winning LA CAGE AUX FOLLES have announced that Palm Beach's favorite son George Hamilton will star in the new production that will run next year at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The show was one of the Great White Way's biggest hit in 2010 and is coming here as part of the 2011-2012 Kravis On Broadway series.

This season's theme of 'family' is kicked off with the Bard's triumphant family history, Henry V, adapted and directed by Ronald Mangravite, running August 26 - September 11, 2011. Henry V, the final play about the reigning family crown, chronicles King Henry V's war with France over land and titles. As part of the National New Play Network's Continued Life for New Plays Fund and in conjunction with Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival in Kentucky and Actor's Express Theatre in Atlanta, New Theatre presents the rolling World Premiere of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them by recent Yale Playwrighting graduate A. Rey Pamatmat and directed by THE NEW's Artistic Director, Ricky J. Martinez, running October 14 - 30, 2011.

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly announced six new presentations featuring internationally and nationally-renowned plays, two world premieres and critically-acclaimed artists, many from South Florida, to headline the 2011-2012 THEATER UP CLOSE SEASON in the Arsht Center's intimate Carnival Studio Theater.

The Summer Jazz Camp at the Arts at St. Johns in Miami Beach includes Jazz music history, introduction to the fundamental language of Jazz, Latin rhythms, Jazz theory and technique, Jazz improvisation, and small-group ensemble jam sessions.

With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, 'The Pillowman' centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. 'Comedies don't come any blacker than 'The Pillowman,' stated the New York Times. 'Even those familiar with this British dramatist's [McDonagh's] blithe way with murder, mutilation and dismemberment may be jolted by the events described and simulated so picturesquely...(Advisory note: severed fingers and heads, electric drills, barbed wire and premature burial all figure prominently.)'

Rising Action Theatre announced its 2011-2012 Fifth Anniversary Season. Five plays and musicals, celebrating the diversity and promoting tolerance through the theatre arts, will comprise the Season, beginning in September.

Benise's The Spanish Guitar has been hailed as 'The Latin Riverdance!' FST's hit country musical Cowgirls has been extended through July 17, due to popular demand. The 'energetic' musical is under the direction of Mary Murfitt (concept of COWGIRLS/composer/lyricist) and music direction by Mary Ehlinger (musical arrangments for COWGIRLS), and brings together six talented actresses-singers-musicians 'for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of musical theatre.' Actress Ella Joyce, best known for her co-starring role of Eleanor on FOX TV's 'Roc', and Jasmine on 'My Wife & Kids, captures the famous moment in the life of Rosa Parks, affectionately called 'Mother of the Civil Rights Movement', in her highly acclaimed, one-woman play A Rose Among Thorns, a Tribute to Rosa Parks; Created & Performed by ELLA JOYCE and Directed by Dan Martin. A ROSE AMONG THORNS will take place on Sunday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m.

Combining the best songs of the Baby Boomer era with a lot of humor, a fine cast and a veteran technical team, 'SUDS' is the ideal choice for Miami Beach Stage Door Theatre's debut at the landmark Byron Carlyle in Miami Beach. The show begins its run on Friday, July 29 and continues through Sunday, September 4.

An explosive play by an Israeli about three Palestinian brothers locked in a life-and-death struggle over issues of deception and betrayal. Set in a village on the West Bank in 1990, with the Israeli-Arab struggle as its backdrop, the play depicts the tragedy of one family torn between duty, kinship, principles and survival.

The show follows the classic love story of a young couple. While out together running some errands and enjoying their newly-engaged bliss, the sweethearts unwittingly stumble into a full-fledged zombie attack. What follows is a musically accompanied account of the skin crawling, zombie fighting, brain craving mayhem and a true testament to the couple's 'Undying Love.' Named Creative Loafing Readers' Pick for Best Theater Premiere & Best Play in Atlanta, The Promethean Theatre is the first theatre outside of Dad's Garage to produce this play.

The Boca Raton Theatre Guild announced the plays it has selected for its 2011-2012 season: Sarah Jones' Bridge and Tunnel, Charles Busch's Tales of the Allergist's Wife, the musical Sweet Charity, and Paulette Dozier in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill. They will all play at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park.

Havana in the early 60's, just after the Bay of Pigs debacle and the Cuban Missile Crisis-- a time in Cuba best known for re-entrenchment of revolutionary ideals, coupled with the ever-growing influence of (and dependence on) Soviet Russia. A family loyal to the Revolution has been rewarded by Castro's government with an enormous home. Carmen, the matriarch of her small family and a fervent revolutionary, has been assigned the official watchdog of the neighborhood. The play deals with the growing psychological and political forces which strain and eventually unravel their very existence.

The Island Players is a new community theatre group founded by a trio of longtime theatre aficionados and Marco Islanders Pat Berry (founder of the Marco Island Film Festival and SoapFest), Jean Ann Rowles and Pattie Ziesig (founder of Pattie's Playhouse). All three women bring extensive stage and directing experience as well as strong affiliations with local community organizations. According to Ms. Berry, The Island Players was created to provide an outlet for fun, creative community involvement while seeking to produce quality entertainment not currently served by the professional theatre groups.

The Main Street Players is pleased to announce its upcoming production of Extremities by William Mastrosimone. This riveting, thought-provoking drama about a woman, Marjorie, who escapes her would-be rapist and then metes out her own justice has been intriguing and gripping audiences for over twenty years, all the time demanding that we examine our own attitudes towards crime and the justice system. As Marjorie's justice becomes more and more like revenge, the arrival of her two roommates forces all four people - rapist, victim, and bystanders - to examine where we draw the line between intent and action, and between what is justifiable and what is not. The play contains adult content and strong language, and parents are cautioned.
