EMPIRE STAGE OPENS IN SOUTH FLORIDA WITH MAKING PORN, THE HIT COMEDY ABOUT THE GAY ADULT FILM INDUSTRY IN THE 1980s

New York-Based Production Company Set to Bare it All at Ft. Lauderdale's New Empire Stage

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Empire Stage (http://www.empirestage.com/) announces the South Florida revival of Making Porn, playing now at the Empire Stage.

Making Porn, a comedy by Ronnie Larsen, chronicles the life of Jack Hawk, a straight, out-of-work actor hired by a gay porn producer to star in his upcoming movie.  Joining Jack in the filming are a jaded porn star and an industry newcomer.  Complications arise when Jack's wife finds out about her husband's new career. The original production ran Off-Broadway for over 500 performances and has toured throughout the United States.

Last year Empire Stage completed a successful extended run of Roll With the Punches at the Rising Action Theater.  Roll With the Punches, a celebrated comedy from the New York International Fringe Festival, was written by Empire Stage company member Garet Scott.

"We are so excited to be a part of the South Florida theatre community," said David R. Gordon, who plays Jack. "Last year's run at Rising Action opened our eyes to the local theatre scene. Our company had a great time here, and the audiences were very receptive to us. We're looking forward to a successful run of Making Porn."

David and fellow cast members Keith Doughterty and Michael Lopez appeared in the NYC production of Making Porn. They are joined by South Florida actors Julia Clearwood, Ryan McFadden and Angel Perez. Michael Lopez directs.

Making Porn is running at Empire Stage, formerly Sol Theatre Project, 1140 North Flagler Drive, Ft. Lauderdale, from now to February 14, 2010.  For tickets and general information call 954-678-1496 or visit empirestage.com.  Warning: Play contains nudity.
