Starting September 1, 2010, high schools and colleges across the United States and Canada have been allowed to license THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for performances in their schools. PHANTOM is licensed for these amateur performances exclusively by R&H Theatricals, an Imagem Company. For more information, visit www.rnh.com. From the producers who presented the critically acclaimed landmark David Cromer production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, now comes the New York premiere of the new comedy, Mistakes Were Made, by Craig Wright with direction by Dexter Bullard. The two-character play features Academy Award-nominee Michael Shannon as producer Felix Artifex and Mierka Girten as his assistant Esther, with puppetry by Sam Deutsch, and reunites the creative team of the Off-Broadway smash hit Bug Bullard, Shannon and Barrow Street. The 16-week limited engagement began performances November 5, 2010 at the Barrow Street Theatre. Opening night is Sunday evening, November 14, 2010.

Playwrights Horizons opened After the Revolution on November 10, the limited engagement will play through Sunday, November 28 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater 416 West 42nd Street. AFTER THE REVOLUTION will be the second production of the theater company's 40th Anniversary Season.

The award-winning Billie Holiday Theatre launches its 39th season on October 15, with the world premiere of Jackie Alexander's play Brothers from the Bottom. The Equity production, also directed by Jackie Alexander, will open October 28 and run through December 19 at the 200-seat Billie Holiday Theatre, Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn; Thursday - Saturday at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm, and Sundays at 4:00pm, with tickets $15 - $25, available at zerve.com/BHolidayInc/Brothers.

LCT3's world premiere production of THE COWARD, a new play by Nick Jones, directed by Sam Gold, opens on Monday, November 22 at 6:45 pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET® project, 229 W. 42 Street. LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. THE COWARD is the first of three LCT3 productions during its 2010-2011 season.

Jordin Sparks performed at the grand opening of the Times Square Disney Store on November 9, 2010 in New York City. William Shimell will sing the role of Don Alfonso in Mozart's Così fan tutte for all performances this season, replacing Wolfgang Holzmair who is suffering from a sinus infection. Mr. Shimell previously sang the role during the 1996-1997 season.

THE MUSIC MAN, a Broadway treasure, loved by generations, previews November 3rd, opens November 14th, and runs through January 9th, 2011 at the Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL. THE MUSIC MAN stars Bernie Yvon and Johanna Mckenzie Miller, directed by Gary Griffin, and choreographed by Matt Raftery.

The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute has always been a location known for multiple celebrity sightings and many certainly turned out last Saturday, Nov 6th, for the opening night of 'BARRYMORE' starring Jack Betts as the famous thespian. The standing room only crowd included representatives of stage, film and TV with Julie Newmar, Fred Willard, Rip Taylor, Thao Penghlis, John Glover, Don Swayze, Ned VanZandt, Larry Pressman, as well as Ana Strasberg and John Barrymore, Jr. The evening's festivities included a birthday celebration for the opening's hostess, Doris Roberts.

Porchlight Music Theatre will present the exhilarating live stage production of Miracle on 34th Street, based on the holiday film classic at Stage 773, 1225 West Belmont. The production will run from November 19 through January 2, 2011. The Press Opening is Sunday, November 21 at 2:30 p.m. Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Associate Christopher Pazdernik will direct.

Gray Line New York's Ride of FameTM campaign honored award winning and legendary actor, Richard Dreyfuss for his achievements as an outstanding New Yorker today. A double decker tour bus bearing his likeness was unveiled at a ceremony which took place in front of the Cherry Lane Theatre located on Commerce Street, where his new play, Imagining Heschel which started this week is playing. Dreyfuss, who is also current on the hit TV show Weeds, took a tour on his new bus, with 30 of his fans, and got on the microphone and helped with the tour!

On Monday, October 18th, HOT MESS IN MANHATTAN played the Midtown Theatre to a standing room only, energy-filled house. Many of the contributing composers of MESS IN MANHATTAN were on hand for a meet & greet with fans prior to the show.

The Un-Common Theatre Company and The Orpheum at Foxboro are pleased to present 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ', a fun and lively adaptation of the Broadway classic. This international audience hit plays weekends at the Orpheum Theatre, Foxboro, December 3rd - 12th. This is the third collaboration for the Orpheum and Un-Common.

The American Theatre Wing has announced the 10 recipients of its 2010 National Theatre Company Grants, who are the first group of theatres receiving ATW support following its revision of its long-standing theatre company grants program. This year's recipients are: 1812 Productions Philadelphia, PA, About Face Theatre Chicago, IL, Boise Contemporary Theater Boise, ID, Company One Boston, MA, Curious Theatre Company Denver, CO, The Flea Theater, Inc. New York, NY, Profile Theatre Portland, OR, Silk Road Theatre Project Chicago, IL, Synetic Theater Arlington, VA, and Triad Stage Greensboro, NC. The companies will be celebrated at a private luncheon at the Intercontinental Hotel Times Square on Monday, October 25th.

Bizet's Carmen will return to the Metropolitan Opera on November 4 in Richard Eyre's critically acclaimed production, featuring star mezzo-soprano El?na Garan?a as the alluring Gypsy seductress; rising tenor Brandon Jovanovich as her lover and victim, Don José; Nicole Cabell as the innocent Micaëla; and John Relyea, singing the toreador Escamillo for the first time at the Met. English National Opera Music Director Edward Gardner, who is making his Met debut, will conduct all Carmen performances this season.
