Starting September 1, 2010, high schools and colleges across the United States and Canada have been allowed to license THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for performances in their schools. PHANTOM is licensed for these amateur performances exclusively by R&H Theatricals, an Imagem Company. For more information, visit www.rnh.com. In the photos beow, the Broadway production of PHANTOM welcomed the leads from an upcoming NY state production (Coleman High School in Kingston, NY).

From the producers who presented the critically acclaimed landmark David Cromer production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, now comes the New York premiere of the new comedy, Mistakes Were Made, by Craig Wright with direction by Dexter Bullard. The two-character play features Academy Award-nominee Michael Shannon as producer Felix Artifex and Mierka Girten as his assistant Esther, with puppetry by Sam Deutsch, and reunites the creative team of the Off-Broadway smash hit Bug Bullard, Shannon and Barrow Street. The 16-week limited engagement began performances November 5, 2010 at the Barrow Street Theatre. Opening night is Sunday evening, November 14, 2010.

The award-winning Billie Holiday Theatre launches its 39th season on October 15, with the world premiere of Jackie Alexander's play Brothers from the Bottom. The Equity production, also directed by Jackie Alexander, will open October 28 and run through December 19 at the 200-seat Billie Holiday Theatre, Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn; Thursday - Saturday at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm, and Sundays at 4:00pm, with tickets $15 - $25, available at zerve.com/BHolidayInc/Brothers.

The standing room only crowd included representatives of stage, film and TV with Julie Newmar, Fred Willard, Rip Taylor, Thao Penghlis, John Glover, Don Swayze, Ned VanZandt, Larry Pressman, as well as Ana Strasberg and John Barrymore, Jr. The evening's festivities included a birthday celebration for the opening's hostess, Doris Roberts.

Gray Line New York's Ride of FameTM campaign honored award winning and legendary actor, Richard Dreyfuss for his achievements as an outstanding New Yorker today. A double decker tour bus bearing his likeness was unveiled at a ceremony which took place in front of the Cherry Lane Theatre located on Commerce Street, where his new play, Imagining Heschel which started this week is playing. Dreyfuss, who is also current on the hit TV show Weeds, took a tour on his new bus, with 30 of his fans, and got on the microphone and helped with the tour!

Bizet's Carmen will return to the Metropolitan Opera on November 4 in Richard Eyre's critically acclaimed production, featuring star mezzo-soprano El?na Garan?a as the alluring Gypsy seductress; rising tenor Brandon Jovanovich as her lover and victim, Don José; Nicole Cabell as the innocent Micaëla; and John Relyea, singing the toreador Escamillo for the first time at the Met. English National Opera Music Director Edward Gardner, who is making his Met debut, will conduct all Carmen performances this season.
