DEAR PROSPECTIVE STUDENT to Receive Industry Concert Reading At The Green Room 42

An industry concert reading of Dear Prospective Student will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7 PM at The Green Room 42 on the 4th floor of Yotel NYC. Dear Prospective Student is a new musical with book by Caryn Robbins, and Music & Lyrics by Michael Hicks.

Join us at The Green Room 42 for a hilarious, fun-filled evening featuring the songs of the new, original musical comedy DEAR PROSPECTIVE STUDENT. Follow six high school seniors as they compete for a coveted spot at the nation's top-ranked university and ultimately come to realize that only they, and not a school's name on a diploma, will determine their future success and happiness. The concert will feature direction by Jodi Beck, musical direction by Madeline Smith, arrangements by Jon Bauerfeld, with Lis Macaulay as Stage Manager, and General Management by Benjamin Simpson and Joseph Longthorne of SL Theatricals.

The Green Room 42 is Broadway's newest urban entertainment cabaret club, that since its opening on Valentine's day has featured Broadway names like Alice Ripley, Telly Leung, Josh Groban, Eva Noblezada, Lillias White, James Snyder, The Skivvies (Lauren Molina & Nick Cearley), Matt Doyle, Constantine Maroulis, and many more. Located on the fourth floor of YOTEL NYC, The Green Room 42 boasts a funky new vibe, and no food or beverage minimum-- opening up the cabaret industry to an affordable, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for theatre people and theatre fans alike.

JODI BECK (Director) - has served as the dramaturg, producer and director for Dear Prospective Student and has enjoyed shaping and developing this story since its first public presentation in the West Village Music Theatre Festival for which she won for Best Direction. In addition to directing DPS, she has self produced 8 solo shows in NYC and worked as an actress nationally and internationally. Most recently she co-directed and produced the concert Typecast: A Benefit Concert featuring stories of identity lost and found, with Ebony Vines. She also produced her debut EP album Never Gonna Be Easy which has sold in 6 countries. She is a proud member of Actors Equity.

Caryn Robbins (Book) - was inspired to write "Dear Prospective Student" after surviving the college admissions process with her three daughters. She is a contributor and former Senior Editor for BroadwayWorld.com Producing credits include 2010 HAIR National Tour and the recent Broadway revival of GODSPELL. Caryn is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael Hicks (Music/Lyrics) - has ventured out as a writer before. He wrote When Kids Go Out to Play performed at Expanded Arts, and he wrote the score to Plan B which has been seen at The Hangar Theatre, Ithaca, NY, and Don't Tell Mama, NYC, and which was a winner of the Next Act Play Summit 5, Capital Repertory Theatre/Proctors Theatre, Albany, NY. (Book by Michael Barakiva and Emily Mikesell.) When a pen is not in hand, Michael makes his living performing and playing music. Most recent: Ring of Fire at Vienna's English Theatre, Our Town at The Weston Playhouse. He plays auditions and classes in New York City and is on faculty at Molly College's CAP 21 Theatre Arts program.
