Yinya dana: lighting the path is a concert presented by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Short Black Opera, celebrating the legacy of Yorta Yorta/Yuin composer Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO. The event features performances by yidaki virtuoso William Barton, opera singers Jess Hitchcock and Lillie Walker, and includes a collaboration with the Dhungala Children’s Choir. Conducted by Aaron Wyatt and Nicolette Fraillon AM, the program showcases significant works from Cheetham Fraillon’s career, highlighting her commitment to elevating First Nations voices in the classical music sphere.
