Staged Reading of Paul Parente's Rage of Achilles - April 7 at Salvage Vanguard Theater
Austin Shakespeare presents Rage of Achilles, a new tragi-comedy with beautiful verse at 3 pm Sunday, April 7 at Salvage Vanguard Studio Theatre, 2803 Manor Rd. Philadelphia Poet-playwright Paul Parente combines comic, tragic, modern, and classical elements in a rich stew of theatricality, giving a worm's eye view of the most exciting and profound epic ever composed: Homer's Iliad. In an epic war, two spies struggle to survive—but one begins to doubt the morality of slaughter, torture, blood, and revenge. Along the way the bonds of blood are broken; unheard, the dead rise to speak their own story--and through the darkness and confusion surrounding the boundless rage of Achilles--a new vision of the Human is born.
Featuring Austin Shakespeare Actors: Liz Beckham, Michael Dalmon, Sara Cormier, David Boss, Robert Stevens, and Justin Scalise.
