Maestro Oliver Rajamani releases his 10th album “VASI” - an intoxicating album of original ballads uniquely blending Western string orchestration, American jazz, Romani (Gypsy) traditions and exotic sounds of India in a way that only Rajamani can naturally do. Performances by Jazz vocal legend Diane Schuur, King of Hungarian Romani violin Roby Lakatos, haunting Armenian duduk Jivan Gasparyan, and French Manouche (Gypsy) Jazz guitarist Amati Schmitt punctuate some of the brilliance carried in this album. The album carries a vivacious and persevering radiance that transforms the darkest of memories into light similar to traditional Romani music.
After touring internationally, the release of “VASI” will mark Rajamani’s first public concert in Austin since 2020. The concert will feature an evening of beautiful, passionate and mesmerizing music with a Western string orchestra and musical guests featured on the album.
Oliver Rajamani is a Texas artist, and Austin city is where his life and music came to mature-with the Romani (Gypsy) Indian diaspora’s historic storyline serving as the pathway to reconnecting deeper into his ancestral heritage.
