Divine Comedy at AFS Cinema

Dates: 4/25/2026

📍 Theatre:
AFS Cinema

Divine Comedy, directed by Ali Asgari, is a sharp-witted satire screening as the Centerpiece presentation of the 11th Annual Indie Meme Film Festival at AFS Cinema. The film follows a 40-year-old filmmaker who has spent his entire career making films in Turkish-Azeri, none of which have ever been screened in Iran, and whose latest work — once again denied permission — inspires him to take on an underground mission to showcase it to an Iranian audience while dodging government censors and an absurd bureaucracy. Screenwriter Alireza Khatami will attend and participate in a post-screening Q&A. The festival runs April 22–26 and features 27 films representing 14 countries, with all screenings at AFS Cinema.
