Professor Jim Harbour Concludes Georgia Southern Theatre Career with ON THE RAZZLE, Now thru 4/13

By:

The Theatre and Performance program at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro concludes the spring semester with the comedic farce On the Razzle by Tom Stoppard. This show plays tonight, April 10-13 with performances at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on Georgia Southern's campus.

Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for faculty, staff and general admission. Contact the Performing Arts Center's box office at 912-478-7999 for ticket information.

This production is directed by theatre professor Jim Harbour as his final work with the Georgia Southern University theatre department before his retirement. In March, Harbour starred in the school's production of Death of a Salesman as his swansong performance.

Said by theatre students to kind of be the "non-musical version of 'Hello, Dolly' without Dolly," On the Razzle tells the story of two clerks who want to experience adventure in the Big City while they still can. The only thing wrong with their plan: The two clerks keep winding up in the same locations as their boss! The characters engage in several shenanigans, have problems with mistaken identities, and go through the ever-complicated issue of romance. On the Razzle features a cast of more than twenty students, some of which are making their Georgia Southern Theatre debut, and others who have already been in multiple shows there.

Georgia Southern's Theatre & Performance Program has a long-standing reputation for excellence in artistic achievement among industry professionals. While studying theatre at Georgia Southern, students have the opportunity to Perform, Design and Direct in two state of the art performance facilities: The Performing Arts Center and The Center for Art and Theatre. Georgia Southern University's Theatre and Performance Program is an Institutional member of The National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).
