The York Theatre Company has announced that, for the fourth consecutive summer, it will partner with Marymount Manhattan - a liberal arts college in New York City and home to a premiere performing arts program - to offer performers ages 18-27 a New Musical Theatre Intensive.

The Intensive will run from May 21nd through June 25th.  Participants will explore and perform new musical theatre compositions by emerging writers whose work has been featured at the York Theatre. The Intensive will culminate in the performance of an original musical revue on the York Theatre stage at Citicorp Center. Daily structured classes in dance and performance technique will enhance students' technical skills. Past teachers have included Music Director/Actor Matt Castle (Company), Director/Choreographer Robert Durkin (West Virginia Public), Actor/Choreographer Luis Perez (Man of La Mancha, The Wild Party), Director Michael Montel (New Phoenix Repertory Company, York's Mufti Series) and Choreographer/Dancer Ananda Bena-Weber.

The cost of the Intensive is $2650 for the program. Housing in a Marymount Manhattan dormitory is available for an additional $1300. Last year's showcase included songs from shows seen on the York Stage in the Mainstage and Developmental Reading Series, with material from writers such as: Paul McKibbins and BT McNicholl, Adam Overett, Charles Bloom, Brad Ross & Ellen Greenfield, Joe Keenan, Joe Iconis, Jihwan Kim and Sean Hartley, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen, John McMahon and Jay Jeffries, Mathew Frank and Dean Bryant, David Evans and Sarah Schlesinger, Lawrence Rosen, Stephen Dolginoff, Scott Alan and David Kirshenbaum.
