Theatre And Entertainment Stars Gather To Perform In Support Aids Research At The First Annual MASCUREAIDS BALL Theatre and Entertainment Stars Gather to Perform in Support Aids Research at the first annual MASCUREAIDS BALL October 31st in NYC

Legendary downtown NYC performance artist and provocateur Penny Arcade, whose gripping works have always touched on AIDS, will be curating an evening featuring New York Times 2017 "New Yorker of the Year" Julie Atlas Muz and "New York Treasure" Joey Arias who will perform in support of a cure for AIDS at the MASCUREAUDS BALL hosted by the Research Foundation to Cure AIDS (RFTCA), on October 31st at 7:30pm to 10:30pm with an after-party following at 10:30pm at Performance Space New York (formerly PS122), newly re-opened following a five-year, $35 million renovation.

Joining Penny Arcade will be noted music director James Davis, former Abyssinian Baptist Church Choir Director, who will lead a gospel choir performance by Broadway Inspirational Voices and New York City Gay Men's Chorus in what will be a historic tribute symbolizing the African-American and gay communities, both hard-hit by AIDS.

The entertainers have leant their performances in support of a joint venture between the hosts of the MASCUREAIDS BALL and the 45th Annual New York City Village Halloween Parade to capture peoples' imagination and mobilize a cure for AIDS. Their dual goal is to help raise $300,000 to set-up start-up laboratories dedicated to curing AIDS and to anchor a celebrated NYC annual tradition, recognized worldwide, with a cause.

The Village Halloween Parade has always served as a celebration of the city's most creative energy where people are free to come as they are or as they want to be. When AIDS first hit, the same creative scene mobilized to get the world to care about addressing the disease. A highlight of the MASCUREAIDS BALL will be a Best Costume contest with a $5,000 prize. The Best Costume Prize with Michael Musto will be hosted by Halloween Parade Grand Marshall Machine Dazzle. Speaking about the inaugural contest designed to promote awareness and participation in this event, Kambiz Shekdar, Ph.D., president and founder of RFTCA said

"It is artists who are needed, once more, to give life to science that holds promise to cure AIDS. That's why we're offering a $5,000 Best Costume Prize, equal to the size of some grants for artists. We recognize and honor New York's creative talent as a vital force to kick-start a cure for AIDS,"
