The Players Foundation Presents
A Pipe Night For Mary Tyler Moore On Sunday, March 15th
This Black Tie Salute To Our Beloved Mary Starts With Cocktails At 6pm.
Tony Bennett, Elaine Stritch and Bernadette Peters will be on hand too
At The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South,
New York's Cherished Townhouse For The Arts.

She first danced into our view as Happy Hotpoint, the appliance fairy during Ozzie and Harriet commercials. Then she waltzed into our hearts as Laura Petrie in the Dick Van Dyke Show and Mary Richards, the iconic Everywoman (we should be so lucky) of her generation and garnered several Emmys along the way. She followed up with more vivid performances on television, in film (including her Oscar-nominated turn in Ordinary People and on Broadway (Whose Life Is It Anyway). On Sunday, March 15th, The Players honors Mary Tyler Moore with one of its most cherished traditions, a Pipe Night. On hand to honor Ms. Moore will be Tony Bennett, Elaine Stritch and Bernadette Peters.

Born in Brooklyn, she was the pride of New Rochelle as Laura Petrie and the toast of Minneapolis as Mary Richards, now Ms. Moore is a devout New Yorker and a vital part of the city's cultural fabric. She is International Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and has used her considerable resources to raise awareness of the condition. A passionate animal rights activist, she is co-founder of Broadway Barks, an annual animal adopt-a-thon. To honor all her achievements, she gets handed a pipe on Sunday, March 15th.

One of The Players longest traditions, Pipe Nights are named for the smoking of churchwarden pipes in the evenings. Pipe Nights began in 1905 and continue as testimonials to entertainment professionals to celebrate their contribution to the arts. The March 15th Pipe Night for Mary Tyler Moore is the perfect opportunity to get dressed up and spend some quality time with one of our favorite actresses and beloved women.

This black tie evening ($200 per person) begins with cocktails at 6pm, then dinner at 6:45 followed by a program honoring Mary Tyler Moore at 8:30.
