TWITTER WATCH: Lin-Manuel Miranda Reacts to 1776's William Daniels' Plans To See HAMILTON

Tonight Broadway and television star William Daniels asked a simple question on his Twitter accout:

Daniels, of course, made an indelible mark on Broadway in 1969 with his definitive performance as the original John Adams in the Tony-winning musical, 1776, a role he played again in the musical's movie version.

What he may not know is that Hamilton's author/star Lin-Manuel Miranda naturally takes his protagonist's side regarding the issues between Alexander Hamilton and John Adams, at one point twisting a reference to the earlier show's score. Miranda's Twitter reaction makes reference to another classic William Daniels role.

We're sure William Daniels will understand the need to write about our 2nd American President in a less than flattering way. After all, as John Adams says in 1776, "This is a revolution, damn it! We're going to have to offend somebody!"

HAMILTON recently opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. HAMILTON has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer Lin Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed byThomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. "HAMILTON" is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."

HAMILTON, which recently transferred to Broadway following a sold-out run at The Public Theater in NYC, is the acclaimed new musical about the scrappy young immigrant Alexander Hamilton, the $10 Founding Father who forever changed America with his revolutionary ideas and actions. During his life cut too short, he served as George Washington's chief aide, was the first Treasury Secretary, a loving husband and father, despised by his fellow Founding Fathers and shot to death by Aaron Burr in their legendary duel.
