Earlier this week, Keke Palmer, known for her work in "Akeelah and the Bee" and "True Jackson: VP," made her Broadway debut as Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA. Joined by former co-host of The View Sherri Shepherd (Madame), Palmer is the first African-American woman to portray the role on Broadway, as well as the youngest at just twenty-one years old. Last night marked opening night for Kenneth Lonergan's THIS IS OUR YOUTH at the Cort Theatre. The cast features Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin, and Tavi Gevinson. With already acclaimed direction by Tony winner Anna Shapiro, this opening night marks the second of the 2014-2015 Broadway season, preceded only by the Tupac Shakur musical "Holler If Ya Hear Me." New York's Playwrights Horizons began its 2014-2015 season earlier this week with a new play from Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara, BOOTYCANDY. Running through October 12th at Playwrights Horizon's Mainstage Theatre, BOOTYCANDY tells the story of Sutter (Phillip James Brannon), and his experiences growing up gay and black. Fresh off their recent engagement at 54 Below, the Shapiro sisters are back! Milly (11) and Abigail (14) joined BACKSTAGE host Peter LeDonne to discuss their concert LIVE OUT LOUD. Milly was one of the original four Matildas in the Tony Award winning MATILDA, and Abigail played the role of Cindy Lou Who in HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. Two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole returned to 54 Below this week for her first performance there in two years. Made famous on Broadway for her performances in 42nd Street and Grey Gardens, Ebersole has compiled a variety of music for this concert's lineup, ranging from pop to Broadway, and everywhere in between. SIDE SHOW is making its way back to Broadway, starring Emily Padgett and Erin Davie as conjoined twins Daisy and Violet. Originally on Broadway in 1997, the cult favorite is coming back to the Great White Way at the St. James Theatre, starting preview performances on October 28th. In preparation for an official opening on November 17th, the cast and creative team held a celebratory cocktail reception earlier this week. Click here to see more photos from the celebration!

Earlier this week, the cast of TAIL! SPIN! met the press in a special preview performance of Mario Correa's newest work that recreates four recent, dramatic, and preposterous sex scandals. Using only text from emails, tweets, texts, or actual press conferences with the politicians in question, the play is directed by Tony nominee Dan Knechtges. The Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF, is currently underway, now through September 14th. BroadwayWorld was there for the opening presentation of WHILE WE'RE YOUNG, starring Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Adam Driver, and Amanda Seyfried. Stiller and Watts portray a middle-aged couple whose lives are turned upside down when a younger couple comes into their lives. Click here to see more from the film's red carpet!
