TAP&TOM's Tap Performance Of Jobim's Bossa Nova Music Returns

TAP&TOM is a tap dancing and singing performance highlighting the bossa nova beat invented by Antônio Carlos "Tom" Jobim. This sublime experience is being reprised for three shows at the Theater at the 14th Street Y, February 23rd at 8 pm, February 24th at 2 pm, and February 24th at 8 pm (14streety.org for tickets).

TAP&TOM choreographer Felipe Galganni says, "I'm so excited that last year's sold-out show can be shared again, and this year, with a matinee performance, our audience ranges from the very young to those who grew up humming Jobim's tunes."

Nine-year-old Bruno Khiklin Secches is the newest and youngest dancer to join the group, and he is excited about to be part of this event. "It's a very good honor," he says. Bruno and Felipe will be doing a tapping combo of improvisation, choreography, and a fun "call and response" tap-off to Jobim's famous One Note Samba.

Brazilian maestro Carlos Bauzys returns as musical director for the musicians and singers to assist Felipe in achieving his dream of blending the unique sounds bossa nova with the music that the tap dancers are making with their feet.

The show will feature:

  • Dancers: Christina Carminucci, Felipe Galganni, Alex MacDonald, Samara Seligsohn
  • Musicians: Wesley Amorim, Xavier Del Castillo, Josh Davis, Wallace Stelzer, Felipe Viegas
  • Vocals: Pedro Coppeti, Chikako Iwahori, Alice Reys, Jackie Ribas
  • Special guest: Bruno Khilkin Secches
  • Costume Design: Eilat Rimon
