Sierra Boggess Performs All-New Program With PSO

Award-winning Broadway star Sierra Boggess returns Saturday, February 10 to the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) stage for a single night of show-stopping music from Hollywood and the Broadway stage. John Devlin serves as the evening's conductor and host. Ms. Boggess performs songs from West Side Story, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, Pocahontas, The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, and much more! Under the direction of Mr. Devlin, the orchestra plays music from Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and musical gems from iconic Broadway shows. The concert takes place at 8pm at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall on the campus of Princeton University.

Sierra Boggess was last seen on Broadway in the Tony-nominated musical School of Rock. Other Broadway credits include It Shoulda Been You directed by David Hyde Pierce; The Phantom of the Opera (25th Anniversary and opposite Norm Lewis); Master Class (opposite Tyne Daly); and The Little Mermaid (Drama Desk and Drama League nominations, Broadway.com Audience Choice Award). London theatre credits include Les Misérables; The Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall; and Love Never Dies (Olivier Award nomination). Other New York Theater credits include the The Secret Garden at Lincoln Center; Guys & Dolls at Carnegie Hall opposite Nathan Lane; Love, Loss, and What I Wore; and Music in the Air for City Center's Encores! series. She also starred as Christine Daae in the Las Vegas production of The Phantom of the Opera. Regionally, she has been seen in Princesses and the national tour of Les Misérables. Sierra has toured all over the world across Australia, Japan, Paris, and London with her concert show, which has been preserved live and released on CD, Awakening: Live at 54 Below.

John Devlin is the cover conductor for the National Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his work with the NSO, he is the assistant conductor of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and the artistic director and conductor of Gourmet Symphony. With these, and other orchestras, he has conducted at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Music Center at Strathmore. Mr. Devlin's mission as a conductor is to deliver concerts at the highest artistic level and that frame orchestral music in innovative ways. His leadership has inspired many forward-thinking concepts such as Gourmet Symphony, Go-Go Symphony, Seamless Symphony, Interactive Symphony and the New Retro Project.

In advance of the Saturday Evening POPS! concert, the PSO once again partners with the Princeton Garden Theatre with a presentation of the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on Thursday, February 1, at 7:30 pm; tickets to the movie can be purchased from the theatre at princetongarden.org. The musical comedy is based on the 1949 stage musical and stars Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe. Carol Channing performed in the Broadway production.
