SANDBOX STORY 5 to Bring Interactive Storytelling to The PIT
Wonderist Gyll Star invites five audience members to spin unscripted tales from random objects at the Mainstage.
What happens when you put five random objects in front of five people and ask them to create a story? Nobody knows. That is the point.
On Saturday, September 5 at 9:30 PM, artist, speaker, and Wonderist Gyll Star brings Sandbox Story 5 to The PIT in Manhattan for an interactive theater experience built around curiosity, imagination, and audience participation.
There is no script. There is no predetermined ending. There are five objects.
Five people from the audience become storytellers, each choosing an object and using it as the starting point for an unexpected story. The audience becomes part of the experience as the stories unfold in real time.
'I'm interested in what happens when we stop trying to know what comes next,' says Star. 'Sandbox Story 5 gives people permission to play, make things up, change direction, and see what happens.'
The experience is designed for people who don't necessarily think of themselves as performers. You don't have to be an improviser. You don't have to prepare anything. You just have to be willing to play.
Sandbox Story 5 grew out of Star's larger body of work exploring wonder, curiosity, human connection, and what becomes possible when people reconnect with parts of themselves they may have set aside while navigating adult life.
Rather than asking audiences to simply sit back and watch a performance, Star invites them to become part of the story.
