'Rock You' Opens in Toronto in '07; Casting Calls Announced

We Will Rock You, a musical with songs by Queen and written by Ben Elton, will open March 2007 at the Canon Theatre (244 Victoria St., Toronto). Tickets will be on sale on November 20.  

"The story is set in the future on Planet Mall, where people conform to the mainstream music created on computer generated music and musical instruments are banned. A group, the Bohemians, want to bring back live music. Galileo rebels with the Bohemians to find instruments hidden in the planet and return to the Golden Age when kids wrote their own songs," state press materials.

We Will Rock You will hold a number of open casting calls:  

Toronto Open Singing Call  

November 11 from 9am to noon at the Canadian Opera Company, 227 Front Street East, Toronto

 
Montreal Open Singing and Dance Call  
November 18 at the Ballet Divertimento, 3505 Durocher St. (corner Milton), Montreal.
Singers sign-up from 9am to noon and dancers from 9 to 11am.

Vancouver Open Singing (Nov. 25) and Dance Call (Nov. 26)  

November 25 and 26 at Scotiabank Dance Centre, 677 Davie St., Vancouver
