Queens Theatre will present a rare New York City production of the stage adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird in a limited engagement this November.

Directed by Rob Urbinati, To Kill A Mockingbird will play a two-week engagement at Queens Theatre from Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 22.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee, Christopher Sergel's faithful adaptation is the tender, compelling story of childhood in a sleepy Southern town, and the crisis of conscience that rocked it. Compassionate, dramatic and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird became an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960, and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize. It was later made into a cherished Academy Award-winning film. The play and its unforgettable characters - Scout, Jem, Atticus, Calpurnia and Tom Robinson - take audiences to the roots of human behavior, to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos.

Scenic Design is by Stephen K. Dobay; Costume design is by Sidney Shannon; and, the Production Stage Manager is Mark Hoffner. Musical Direction is by Julianne Merrill, and the Casting Director is Tom Rowan.

Managing Director Taryn Sacramone says, "To Kill a Mockingbird is a beloved novel, and the film is equally treasured, but the play is rarely seen - particularly in New York City. Now, with the release of the long-awaited "sequel" to the novel in the midst of complex events taking place in America - from the removal of the Confederate flag at the South Carolina State Capitol to the ongoing debates over racial injustice - I think now is the ideal time to present this magnificent work. As with the book and film, the play has family at its core. At Queens Theatre, we aim to provide shared experiences for our extraordinarily diverse audiences, and we honor our mission when we explore these universal themes. I am truly excited to bring To Kill A Mockingbird to our stage in November."

Presented by arrangement with Dramatic Publishing, performances are Friday November 13th at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
