Planet Connections Gala to Feature Premieres from Israel Horovitz, Erik Ehn, Wendy MacLeod & Winter Miller, 6/22

The 2014 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala 'One Acts for a Cause' is set to take place on Sunday, June 22 at 7:30pm at the East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street). The evening, which will benefit the non-profit NYC food services agency City Harvest, will showcase world premiere one-act plays by four acclaimed playwrights: Obie Award-winner Israel Horovitz (Line, The Indian Wants the Bronx), Erik Ehn (13 Saints, Soulographie: Our Genocides at La MaMa; currently head of playwriting and professor of theatre and performance studies at Brown University), Wendy MacLeod (The House of Yes, Juvenilia and The Water Children which both premiered at Playwrights Horizons, and Things Being What They Are, which premiered at Seattle Repertory Theatre and had an extended run at Steppenwolf), and Winter Miller (In Darfur which premiered at The Public Theater; The Penetration Play produced by 13p). Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date. There will be a VIP reception following the performance at 7:30pm and the gala will raise funds for the non-profit City Harvest which has been serving New York City for more than 30 years and is dedicated to feeding the city's hungry men, women, and children. Israel Horovitz's piece is titled St. Anne's Soup; Wendy MacLeod's piece is titled Community Service; Erik Ehn's piece is titled Frail/Inglin; and Winter Miller's piece is titled Snap.

The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity is New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre, music and film festival and will run from May 12-June 8 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street). The full lineup will be announced shortly.
