The Color Purple, currently in previews at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.), opens on December 1st. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker that inspired the 1985 Steven Speilberg film, The Color Purple features a score by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, and a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman; Gary Griffin directs. The Color Purple stars LaChanze, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Felicia P. Fields, Kingsley Leggs, Elisabeth Withers-Mendes, Brandon Victor Dixon and Krisha Marcano, among others.
