Photo Flash: OITNB, Broadway Stars Attend Opening Night of THE HARVEST

By:

Opening Night of The Harvest was a rousing success with a sell-out crowd at Nantucket's Dreamland Theater July 1 to see the staged reading of playwright Samuel D. Hunter's latest work, featuring a who's who of notable actors across all mediums - TV, Broadway, and film included. Scroll down for photos!

The Harvest, which also runs tonight, is presented by White Heron Theatre Company of Nantucket in collaboration with Long Wharf Theatre. The cast includes such stars as "Orange is the New Black" star Emma Myles; "Boardwalk Empire" actor Michael Countryman, "The Office" actress Elvy Yost; and Tony nominee Micah Stock ("It's Only a Play"). Other mainstream actors/actresses participating in the reading include Rebecca Henderson (The Whale); Jacob Perkins ("Boy Meets Girl"); and Cameron Scoggins ("The Good Wife").

A dramatic tale of religion and family, The Harvest tells the story of a young Idaho man preparing to do missionary work in the Middle East following the death of his father. However, plans grow complicated as his estranged sister enters the picture with her own mission of keeping him homebound. Hunter is the recipient of Obie, Drama Desk and Lortel awards, as well as a MacArthur Fellowship "Genius" Grant. The play was directed by Long Wharf Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein.

2015 marks the third straight year that the White Heron Theatre Company has teamed up with Long Wharf Theatre to showcase an original play. Last year's collaborative piece, The Second Mrs. Wilson, was recently showcased on the Long Wharf Theatre main stage and has Broadway in its sights. The Tony Award-winning Long Wharf Theatre has the distinction of sending more plays to Broadway than any other regional theater in the country.
