Emmy Award nominee and "Grey's Anatomy" star Chandra Wilson is now Broadway's Matron "Mama" Morton in the smash hit musical Chicago, for a four-week limited engagement. She joined the show last night Monday, June 8th and will appear through Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.). Chandra's famous friends and fans came out to see her and BWW was there!
For her critically-acclaimed portrayal of Dr. Miranda Bailey on "Grey's Anatomy," Wilson has earned not only three Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, but also a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, a second Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Drama Series Ensemble and three NAACP Image Awards.
Now celebrating more than twelve glorious years of girls, glitz and glamour on the Great White Way, on Tuesday, March 24 the record-breaking smash hit musical Chicago will become the seventh longest-running production in Broadway history (surpassing Rent with 5,125 total performances to-date) ... and it still shows no sign of ever slowing down!
Chicago features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, and is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.Photos by Walter McBride/Retna Ltd.
