PAMAR opens the 5th Latin American Cultural Week 11/10-17

A sumptuous offering of the rich and varied cultures of Latin America, LACW offers a series of events featuring performing and visual arts, literary encounters, art fair and auctions, November 10-17, all around town.

LACW includes venues from Symphony Space and Carnegie Hall to downtown's Drom, from the Americas Society to Museo del Barrio, Lincoln Center and Repertorio Español, as well as Sotheby's and Christie's auction houses and events in Brooklyn and Queens. LACW has seen impressive growth, expanding this year to fifty events reaching large citywide audiences.

Just a few 2010 LACW events:

* Six theatrical productions by Repertorio Español.

* Visual Arts Exhibits at Museo del Barrio, Consulates of Argentina and Uruguay, Americas Society, PINTA Art Fair, Chelsea Galleries.

* Flamenco Festival Gitano! at NYU's Skirball Center. Two groups from Spain presented by the World Music Institute.

* Max Lifschitz's North/South Consonance - Art Songs from Latin America and Spain, at Christ & St. Stephen's Church, Manhattan.

* DanSur/DanSouth - Produced by Pajarillo Pinta'o. A two-days journey from folklore to contemporary new-wave of Latin American dance, at Theatre for The New City.

* LACW's Closing Event Celebration, November 17 - An exuberant production in association with the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center. Poet/storyteller David Gonzalez will MC, with Argentinean jazz bassist/bandleader Pedro Giraudo; electrotango by Dock Sud, and Colombian composer/performer Pablo Mayor with members of Folklore Urbano and special guest Maria Mulata.
