New York Musical Festival Extends 2018 Next Link Project Application Deadline

The New York Musical Festival has announced that due to an overwhelming number of submissions for its 2018 Next Link Project, they have decided to extend the deadline to Wednesday November 8 at 11.59pm EST.

Note: This is an extension of one week from the previously announced deadline of today, November 1.

The Next Link Project is the cornerstone of NYMF's Programming. It is open to any writer, produced or unproduced, with or without agency representation. The program receives hundreds of submissions from all over the world each fall, and every script and demo recording is reviewed by numerous members of NYMF's Reading Committee.

To submit a show, you must have a finished script and at least 75% of the songs recorded. All entries undergo double-blind evaluations by our readers (ensuring a focus on the quality of work), with finalists reviewed by our Grand Jury of industry professionals.

Once selected, the writing teams embark on an intense creative development process in preparation for their Festival productions with help from NYMF every step of the way. NYMF offers guidance in many forms, including varied seminars - on fundraising, marketing, producing, and more - led by industry professionals, networking events, dramaturgical support, a $5,000 production subsidy, casting assistance, and the immense marketing and industry exposure that comes with appearing at the Festival.

The 2018 NYMF Grand Jury includes Tony Award-Winner Michael Cervaris, OBIE and Drama Desk Award winner Donna Lynne Champlin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Tony Award-winning producer Jane Dubin (An American in Paris), Two River Theater Literary Manager Anika Chapin, West Hyler (Paramour), Jenny Koons (Burn All Night), Lorin Latarro (choreographer of Waitress), OBIE Award-winning director and National Black Theatre's Director of Theatre Arts Program Jonathan McCrory, Rattlestick Artistic Director Daniella Topol, Public Theater Literary Associate Jack Phillips Moore, Saheem Ali (Public Theater Mobile Unit's Twelfth Night), LCT3 Associate Director Natasha Sinha, Abrams Artists Theatrical Literary Agent Katie Gamelli, and Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Sergio Trujillo (On Your Feet!).
