Mamma Mia!, now in its 32nd month at the Mandalay Bay Theatre, continues to inspire Las Vegas audiences to dance in the aisles.

The show is the longest-running musical to ever play the Las Vegas strip. "With over 1,000 shows under its belt in Las Vegas, the award-winning smash hit continues setting milestones locally and globally, having been seen by over one million people in Las Vegas and over 24 million people worldwide...there are more productions of the show playing simultaneously around the world than any other musical," according to production notes. The show opened at the Mandalay Bay on February 13th, 2003.

Mamma Mia!, which opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway) on October 18th, 2001, has played over 820 performances in New York and continues to play to full houses. Mamma Mia! takes place on a tiny Greek Island, as a mother and daughter try to settle the girl's paternity before her wedding. The show is set to the songs of ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, with hits including "Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money" and "The Winner Takes It All." The show originally starred Louise Pitre, Judy Kaye, Karen Mason and Tina Maddigan.

Mamma Mia!'s book is by Catherine Johnson, with direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony Van Laast. Produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, the musical features production design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

Internationally, a total of 11 global productions (9 resident productions and 2 tours) currently generate over $8 million a week in ticket sales. At first produced in London and with 11 productions in 6 languages, Mamma Mia! has been seen everywhere from the West End to South Africa, Australia and Asia. In addition, the U.S. tour of Mamma Mia! was recently awarded the 2005 "Touring Broadway Award" (formerly the National Broadway Theatre Award) by the League of American Theatres and Producers. To date, the U.S. tours of Mamma Mia! have played over 3,000 performances, generating an accumulated box office gross of over $338 million in 88 cities. The current tour is booked through April 2007.
