Long Beach Playhouse Launches Logo Design Competition for 90th Birthday In February, 2019 the Long Beach Playhouse will be 90 years old. To celebrate the milestone we are hosting a design competition for a commemorative logo that will be used for the year. Summon your creativity and imagination and you can win! There are no restrictions on age or experience. The only restriction is Playhouse board and staff cannot enter. Anyone else, show us what you've got!

"Long Beach and southern California are filled with talented people. We are a community theater and we are asking the community to come forward with designs for our 90th birthday" said Madison Mooney, Playhouse Executive Director. "The logo can be any color, any typeface, it just needs to communicate our name and the milestone birthday."

The Playhouse board will vote on the submissions and the top two will go forward to the public for a decision. The submission deadline is December 1, 2018. The winning entry will be announced in January and will make its debut appearance on the marketing materials for the Agatha Christie play, Spider's Web which opens January 12, 2019.

"We considered using our regular designer," said Sean Gray, Artistic Director for the Playhouse. "But we decided we'd like to engage the community. There are two local colleges with design programs. We know we live among artists. Our hope is someone out there is inspired to spend some time creating a design."

The winner will receive tickets to the Playhouse and merchandise with their logo displayed. Submissions can be made by email to pr@lbplayhouse.org The logo should be submitted as a JPG or PDF. It should be scalable so that it can fit on a program or letterhead as well as a T-shirt.

"This is a great opportunity for a graphic artist hoping to build a portfolio or just a hobby-artist who wants bragging rights with friends and families," said Mooney. "In either case, the Playhouse will be grateful and honored to use the design on its materials in 2019."

The Long Beach Playhouse is located at 5021 E. Anaheim St., Long Beach, CA, 90804, right across from the Long Beach Recreation golf course. The Playhouse is community-supported theatre with programs and events that cut across age, gender, ethnic, and cultural boundaries.
