London's Palace Theatre Plans Hogwarts Facade For HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD

By: May. 26, 2016

When the West End's two-part production of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD begins previews on June 7th, fans may be greeted by a Hogwarts-themed façade outside the historic Palace Theatre.

The Stage reports that a planning application has been submitted to Westminster City Council for permission to drape four banners on the theatre's frontage, each in a color from one of the four Hogwarts houses that feature in the books, film and new play, which opens this month.

According to the application, submitted by Michael Jackson Consulting on behalf of the producers, signage for productions at the theatre have, until now, "been confined to display cases at street level and below the canopy."

The photo below shows an artists' rendering of how the theatre façade would look with the proposed banners.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED is a new play by Jack Thorne. It is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.

The play's official website (harrypottertheplay.com) advises ticketholders to "arrive one hour before the start time of each performance in order to ensure that you are seated in good time; there are bars and an official merchandise kiosk to enjoy before the show, and latecomers will not be admitted."
