According to Chicago Tribune columnist Liz Smith, Lily Tomlin and her partner of more than four decades, Jane Wagner, tied the knot on New Year's Eve.

"My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents," Smith wrote.

The Supreme Court's recent rulings on DOMA and Prop 8 have paved the way for gay couples like Tomlin and Wagner to finally say, "I do."

Earlier in 2013, Tomlin revealed to E! at The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pre-Emmy Performers Peer Group reception that she and Wagner had been thinking about marriage.

Tomlin, 74, and Wagner, 78, never thought they would see same sex marriage legal in their lifetime. "You didn't think that would happen," the 9 to 5 star told E!. "It's pretty remarkable."

The two met in 1971 when Tomlin asked Wagner to collaborate with her on a comedy album after seeing an after-school special that she wrote. Tomlin went on to win the 1986 Tony Award for her performance in Wagner's The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe on Broadway.
